Lotus to build supermini car with Proton [2014 Lotus Ethos]
Lotus manufacturer confirmed today that they are going to build a Supermini car with proton. And they also confirmed the Lotus will only build it's own V-8 engine for supermini. It is a flate plane 4.8-liter V-8 engine which is being designed and built in Norfolk.
The engine will be 80Kg's lighter than the existing Toyota lump engine. In standard tune, the dry sump V-8 will develop 570HP and rev upto 9000rpm and Rising to 620hp in harder R version.The V8 will be used in the 2013 Esprit supercar as well as the Elite 2+2. For 2015's replacement Elise, Lotus is considering splitting the V8 to make a 2.4 four-cylinder.
The name of the city car has also been announced Lotous - Proton will ne called the Ethos.
The Cheif executive Dany Bahar said that they city car i.e, Ethos would be on sale in early 2014.
