Toyota FT-86 Concept II (2011) [reviews]

The new Toyota FT-86 Concept II made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 - which gives the clearest indication yet the final design of the Toyota sports car side. It marks a return to driving passion that has inspired great Toyota cars of the past, starting with the legendary 2000 GT in 1960.

With its long hood down, high wing and rear of the cabin, pay Toyota FT-86 Concept II homage to the history of Toyota sports and is a concept totally driver-oriented. It was created at Toyota ED2 design studio in Europe, where his style has been dubbed the "functional beauty," her bold, curved shape has been generated only by the limitations of performance and aerodynamics.

The low-slung body, aerodynamics is very tense in the difficult technical issues, with the muscular body made as compact as possible. The concept measures 4235 mm long, 1,795 mm wide and 1,270 mm high with a long, 2570 mm wheelbase.

Instead of using a heavy displacement, much of the transmission system to ensure performance, the FT-86 II back to the roots of sport boxer engine Toyota through a combination of free gasoline speed manual transmission with six-speed compact light and a low center of gravity to achieve better power to weight ratio possible.

Both the powertrain and the driving position is too low and as far as possible to optimize the balance of coolness maximum high speed stability and agility. With a disk configuration front-engine/rear-wheel animated this car, performance accessible is easy to use and enjoy.

Toyota FT-86 Concept II is the latest stage of development of a new, compact, sporty rear-wheel drive, which is jointly developed by Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru). The new model will be launched in Europe in 2012.
